toraI have been reading and following Ropate's researches for the past couple of months. He confirms everything i have been taught and learned over the years.I admire Robert for his courage to publish many of his researches on some very sensitive yet interesting and factual topics on Fijian history. His is the Paul Garreth (Fijian language &culture specialist) of Fijian history, and a strong advocate of Fijian studies that is soon to be introduced at USP both at graduate and doctoral levels. Interestingly his wrttings has not caused or stirred up any controversies amongst the Fijians, especially the elites of the Fijian society. I am assuming it is for following reasons. One, they chose to be silent due to the sensitivity of the topic and because it is the truth.To confront it will bring a lot of attention and the public will be exposed to the truth. Or, they are just plain dumb and have no knowledge whatsoever. In other words what the white man has manupilatedly documented to be history is what they have been taught and considered "Standard" history knowledge.
